Important Information & Dates

2023 Dates: ​
  • October 31: Last day of hail & fire insurance coverage
​​2024 Dates:
  • March 31: Last day for owners to withdraw from SMHI
  • April 30: Last day to apply for crop exemption with SMHI
  • June 15: Last day to file crop reports for SMHI
  • June 30: Last day for new applicants to apply for coverage with SMHI
  • August 1: Last day to apply for coverage with AMHI
SMHI: Crop hail insurance protection is available to any owner of land or lessee of Crown-owned land in Saskatchewan. 
  • Interest-free credit until December 31st
  • Early payment discounts
  • No-hassle continuous coverage: after the first year, coverage automatically renews on May 15th
  • Indemnity limits up to $475 per acre
Smhi rate guide
AMHI: A subsidiary of SMHI that provides crop hail insurance coverage to anyone with an insurable interest in the crop.
Buy alone or in addition to SMHI
Indemnity limits up to $500 per acre
Coverage can be purchased on crops seeded on owned or leased land
Payment options: Cheque or Credit Card at time of purchase; Deferred payment due August 1st (at cash rate)
