Which Division do I Vote in?
A person is eligible to vote only in one (1) division in the rural municipality; to determine which division you qualify to vote in you must determine which section first applies to you in the following order:
  1. The division you reside in.
  2. If you reside outside of the R.M.; the division your property is assessed.
  3. If you own property in more than one division, you are eligible to vote in the division which your total assessed value is the highest.
  4. If you own property in more than one division and the total assessed values are equal, you are eligible to vote at the lowest division number.
  5. If you jointly own property with another person, the total assessed value of that property is to be used when determining which division.
  6. If you do not reside in the municipality and are assessed in more than one division, you may designate which division you wish to vote by notifying the administrator prior to September 1st in any year.
  7. If you made a designation as per section 6 above, you are bound by the notice given as long as you continue to be assessed in the same divisions.
  8. If you are assessed with respect to property in one division and your spouse is assessed in another division, either person may designate one of those divisions as the divisions they wish to vote by notifying the administrator in writing prior to September 1st in any year.
  9. Persons mentioned in section 8 above may change the designation of the division in which they are eligible to vote to another division by notifying the administrator in writing not less than four (4) years before an election is to be held in the division.
Regardless of which division you qualify to vote in, you are also eligible to vote for the reeve.
